Pirates looking to improve at loss to Dalton

“Growing Pains” was a popular sitcom in the 1980’s. Garaway football coach hopes that the reimagining of the show his team put on in a 34-21 loss to Dalton last Friday is a short-lived series. The young Pirates trailed just 13-7 in the season opener at halftime but were outscored 21-0 after allowing 235 rushing yards in the third quarter to fall behind 34-7 heading into the final stanza. A pair of solid drives orchestrated by first-year starting sophomore quarterback Tyler Walter eased the ending in the fourth quarter. “We’ve got a long way to go,” said Wallick. “That’s the thing about growing pains with a young team.
