Soctober, a project put together by Garaway Middle School Student Council students, was a success. A total of 861 pairs of socks were collected. Of that number, 168 pairs were brought personally to the group by Teresa Ledford of Huntsville, Alabama. The loyal Budget reader saw the information and made a call to a local sock manufacturer in her area, Emi-G Knitting of Fort Payne, Alabama. “It didn’t make any difference that you were in Ohio,” Ledford shared. “They are real good people. They were excited to help.” Ledford is a former high school band director and was excited to be able to help students reach a goal. Socks will be given to several organizations for distribution this winter. Socks will be given to several local organizations for distribution over the next few months.
