When it comes to confectionary goodness best enjoyed with a hot cup of coffee or a cold glass of milk, Sugarcreek has a new player in the game. Dough Co. opened its doors to customers in late July. While the business is new to Sugarcreek, it’s not new to Tuscarawas County.

In June of 2016 Dough Co. opened its first shop on the Boulevard in Dover. Since its inception Dough Co. has been a family affair, owned by the Bowers family. There are four brothers, Christian, Langston, Bob and Grayson, sister Eren, mom Tami and dad Robert.

Initially, from Texas, the Bowers family moved to the Tuscarawas County area to do mineral research. When the gas and oil industry became unsteady, they decided to find another line of work, but they didn’t want to leave. So, they went back to what the family knew, donuts.

Robert had owned several shops in Texas, so it was second nature for the family. When the Dover shop began to take off, they began looking for a second location. “We wanted to find an area that mirrored the community values of Dover and New Philadelphia,” stated Grayson. “Sugarcreek, we always looked at in certain ways and how community oriented everyone is.”

Dough Co. has come a long way over the past two years. “When we first started we were going to auctions getting any equipment we could for the cheapest price,” Grayson explained.

As the shop began to grow, they were able to purchase better equipment. “What we have now is the fastest production we’ve had before,” he said. “What enabled us to open Sugarcreek was accumulating all of the correct equipment in the kitchen.”
On an average Saturday, typically their busiest day, Dough Co. makes 250 dozen donuts. That amount would have been nearly impossible with the initial equipment. Every donut is made at their Dover location and brought to Sugarcreek early in the morning.

Dough Co. strives to give their customers the best donut experience possible. “We maintain a high level of quality, choice of ingredients, and variety,” Grayson shared.
It’s that mouth-watering variety that drives people to come to Dough Co. time and again. Well, that and the service. “We are the last of the mom and pop donut shops,” Grayson explained. This means that at any given time you will probably see one of the Bowers family in the shop serving their customers. The kind of family atmosphere that makes the Oreo to the milk of a relationship with Sugarcreek.

“We’re incredibly excited to be in Sugarcreek and we look forward to the future there,” Grayson emphasized.
Dough Co. is located at 801 Boulevard in Dover or 681 Dover Road NE in Sugarcreek in the Pizza Parlor Plaza. They are open seven days a week. Sugarcreek is open 5 a.m. to noon Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to noon on Sundays. Dover is open 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. seven days a week.
