The Homer Weiss Post 494 of the American Legion has been busy the past several weeks as they complete projects as part of the Centennial of the American Legion. The most recent project can be seen in front of the Post Home on Broadway in downtown Sugarcreek.
The box was designed to allow the general public a place to drop off flags that need to be retired. A representative of the American Legion noted that box was installed on Friday, July 27 around noon and by Friday night, there was already a flag deposited in the bin.
