A new face can be found at the office of Dr. Phillip Teague in Sugarcreek in the form of Physician’s Assistant Shirley Charette.

“I really want to make sure that the needs of Sugarcreek are being met when I’m not able to be in the office,” Dr. Teague explained of the addition. “We have the same basic philosophies and are committed to patient care.”

Charette has been in Ohio since 2001 and worked for the past 26 years as a physician’s assistant in private practice. “I have a solid reputation in the community and care for my patients like they were my own family,” she shared. “My goal is to provide complete care and wellness to the entire family. I want to get to know them and spend time with them. I believe that preventative services are just as important as treating a condition on the surface.”

Charette noted that she believes listening and hearing her patients is key. “I am looking forward to making a difference in the lives of patients,” she said. “I want to assist Dr. Teague in caring for his patients from a team approach.”

Teague shared that medicine has changed over the years in terms of technology, but his approach to patients remains the same. “It is about meeting the needs of patients where they are,” he said. “It is about treating the whole person and not just the symptoms that are on the surface today. It is about building a relationship and trust.”

Charette noted that she has heard from patients who have been diagnosed with a condition and were never actually examined. “I believe good healthcare starts with actually examining a patient,” she shared. “I believe we have the power to change the direction of someone’s health. We can help someone find out if they have breast cancer by

making sure they have a mammogram. Our goal is to have a positive impact on the health of every patient, and that includes testing when needed to find out exactly what is going on under the surface.”

Charette will primarily be in the office on Thursdays with more hours on the horizon after she has been approved by insurance providers that the office already works with on a daily basis. To make an appointment, call 330-852- 3211.
