The great state of Texas knows the name of Karson Schrock and his incredible talent in payroll accounting after Business Professionals of America National event came to a close on May 12 in Grapevine, Texas.

For the Garaway senior, success has been computed, and he was honored as the first place finisher in the nation when it comes to payroll accounting. He is a student of Nancy Alam at Garaway. Alam is placed at the school by Buckeye Career Center and teaches accounting and related classes.

As a part of the class and its affiliation with Buckeye Career Center, students have the opportunity to participate in organizations like Business Professionals of America to test their skills in everything from interviewing to word processing and accounting. Schrock scored well at the regional and state levels, which earned him the opportunity to travel to Grapevine, Texas, to be a part of the National conference and once again put his skills up against others.

The theme of the National Leadership Conference was “Dream Bigger,” and that is exactly what Schrock did. During the course of the week, students like Schrock participated in service projects, attended engaging educational sessions and tested their skills while exploring the community and supporting local businesses with meals and fun excursions.

Schrock is the son of Glen and Lisa Schrock of Sugarcreek.
