Kent State University at Tuscarawas announced the signing of a 2018 Garaway High School senior to their basketball team after he signed a letter of intent. Trevor Donaldson signed the note to play basketball for the Kent State Tuscarawas Golden Eagles.

Donaldson was a three-year letter winner for the Pirates basketball team and garnered First Team Inter-Valley Conference (IVC) and Second Team Eastern District honors his senior season, while also being named to the District 5 All-Star game in which he made seven (7) three-point shots earning him the game’s MVP award. He averaged 10 points per game, tied the Garaway All-Time Single Season record for Made Three-Pointers with 64 and was the team leader in steals. Donaldson was named IVC Defensive Player of the Year as a junior, played on three district championship teams and one regional runner-up team at Garaway. He also earned three letters in baseball for the Pirates, takes College Credit Plus classes at Kent State Tuscarawas and has an overall GPA of 3.131.

“It’s very exciting for our campus to have a young man of Trevor’s stature coming to us,” said Rich Tharp, head basketball coach for Kent State Tuscarawas. “He is a blue-collar guy who will get in and get his hands dirty in order to get the job done, and his work ethic is second to none. He has that whatever-it-takes kind of attitude and is the consummate team player. What he did for the Pirates and is capable of doing for our basketball team is immeasurable. He is definitely one of those guys who can take over a game when needed, or find the right guy who can propel his team to victory.”

Kent State Tuscarawas, located in New Philadelphia, is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
