The East Holmes Board of Education has a new member among its ranks, and she’s eager to roll up her sleeves and get to work on behalf of the district and its families.
Julia Klink was officially sworn into office during the group’s regular meeting last week. She fills the seat formerly occupied by longtime board member Jeremy Kauffman, who resigned to pursue an employment opportunity in Indiana.
Klink, 39, is a resident of the Berlin area and the nurse manager for Pomerene Hospital’s Med/Surg and Special Care units. She is the mother of three children enrolled in East Holmes Schools.
“I think the biggest thing is just being able to work with a great group of people and maintain the great education that we have in our district going forward, just being a part of that, and being able to serve our community and serve the kids as a way to give back,” Klink said of the opportunity.
When she’s not overseeing patient care at Pomerene or getting settled into her new role as a school board member, Klink enjoys traveling and hanging out with her family.
Although Kauffman was unable to attend the March meeting, Superintendent Erik Beun thanked him publicly for his years of service to the district and community. “The value and leadership he brought to the group is really appreciated,” he said. “We’ll miss him.”
Klink’s initial term will run through December 2019, and voters will have an opportunity to elect a candidate of their choosing to serve out the remaining two years of the term during the November 2019 General Election.
